I have never read any articles or books that state vitamin d deficiency could be an etiology of peripheral neuropathy. I have heard some physicians suggest this could be an etiology. Is there any data to suggest that this could be true? When I looked on pubmed under "vitamin d deficiency and neuropathy" there were no articles that stated that vitamin D deficiency caused neuropathy although vitamin d supplementation could improve "feel better" outcomes in patients with diabetic neuropathy. If you google search the subject, there seem to be many lay articles saying that vitamin D deficiency causes neuropathy. Have any physicians out there treated someone with neuropathy due to vitamin D deficiency? Is this a reversible process once you supplement with vitamin D and establish normal levels? Please post any experiences.
